## Pioneering Food Waste Recycling in Hong Kong for **sustainable energy and organic compost**

O·PARK1 on Lantau Island, is Hong Kong's first of its kind food waste recycling project, treating food waste from population, restaurants and food factories. The project applies biological treatment, such as anaerobic and composting processes, to convert waste into methane gas and organic fertilizer. The plant is fully in accordance with the international standards, and the strictest safety and environmental requirements.
