Veolia Receives Silver Award at HKIBIM Award 2025

HKIBIM Award 2025

Veolia is pleased to announce the receipt of the Silver Award in the Civil and Infrastructure Projects category at the HKIBIM Award 2025, in recognition of its pioneering Digital Twin project at the Chemical Waste Treatment Centre (CWTC) — Hong Kong's sole hazardous waste treatment facility.

To optimise this critical infrastructure, the project team deployed drones and laser scanning technology to construct an AI-powered Digital Twin of the facility's complex hazardous waste piping network. Overcoming significant technical challenges, the Hong Kong team collaborated with Veolia experts across seven cities worldwide to develop and launch AI forecasting models capable of predicting maintenance requirements, optimising operations, reducing material consumption, and lowering carbon emissions.

Beyond operational excellence, the project establishes a new benchmark for Smart City initiatives and ecological transformation in the region.

As Veolia continues to advance its innovation agenda — deploying proprietary solutions spanning BeyondPFAS, AI-enabled data centre management, and advanced chemical waste treatment — the company's 2030 ambitions remain clearly defined: to generate €1 billion in revenue from new pollutant treatment, €1 billion from AI-driven industries, and to achieve 50% operational efficiency gains through digital and AI innovation.
