Veolia designs, builds, operates and maintains facilities for Biologic Treatment Processes, which aims to reduce the amount of food waste going into landfills while recovering energy and compost.
Food Waste Reception
- Trucks transporting food waste are weighted at the weighbridge before discharging it into enclosed tipping bays with a deodorisation system. A grab crane transfers the food waste into hoppers for mixing and pre-treatment.
Anaerobic Digestion
Make use of the microorganisms to convert the organic matter contained in the pre-treated food waste suspension into biogas, waste-to-energy.
Composting
- Digestate is first dewatered by the centrifuge, then mixed with bulking agent. After 14 to 20 days of composting process reaching a temperature over 55 C, the organic residuals will be converted into compost.
Heat Recovery and Power generation
- Equipped Combined Heat and Power Unit, generating electricity to power homes
