Hong Kong Green Week 2026: Veolia’s Blueprint for the City's Environmental Security
Across major industry events—including RethinkHK 2026 and the HKMA-DFSA Joint Climate Finance Conference—the leadership team at Veolia | Hong Kong & Macau took the stage to share our blueprint for the region's decarbonization and long-term environmental security.
From retrofitting legacy buildings and scaling future fuels to greening digital infrastructure, our message was clear: we must translate climate goals into tangible, operational reality.
Here is how we are driving that transformation on the ground:
Retrofitting the Built Environment
At Rethink 2026’s "So French So Green" forum, our CEO Laurent Pelletier joined our esteemed French partners—Bouygues Bâtiment International, Saint-Gobain, Schneider Electric, and CACIB—to discuss decarbonizing Hong Kong’s building stock via bringing together world-class solutions across engineering, construction, digital automation, and financing. Sharing insights from our flagship HKUST retrofit pilot, Laurent highlighted success factors for future projects. By leveraging this combination of IoT and AI, Veolia establishes "dynamic references"—turning real, verifiable energy savings into reliable, bankable assets that secure green financing.
Pioneering Local Green Hydrogen
Looking to the next frontier of clean energy at Rethink 2026, our Technical Director Christophe Blanchard joined the panel on unlocking hydrogen scalability. He shared Veolia’s commitment to generating local green energy and hydrogen infrastructure to decarbonize heavy mobility and industrial operations—a critical step in future-proofing our region's energy transition.
Securing the Digital Boom
At the HKMA-DFSA Conference's "When Green Meets Hyperscaler" panel, our COO Norman Cheng discussed how to sustainably scale high-density data centers. A key insight presented is that specialized Industrial AI is a powerful decarbonization asset, not an energy liability. By deploying circular solutions—such as dynamic water management, localized renewables, and zero-CAPEX retrofits via Energy Performance Contracts—we are actively safeguarding the environmental security of our tech ecosystem.
Whether we are retrofitting the built environment, producing clean energy, or optimizing thermal infrastructure with Industrial AI, Veolia is proud to act as a powerhouse for Hong Kong's environmental security.
